Leadership

This morning I had my saxophone  lesson I showed leadership by trying my best so this afternoon I can help others.

My next step is to be more organised so I can set up before my lesson

Last Friday I had my saxophone and band lesson the reason i don't have so many post about this is because Adianfield has been away most weeks I showed leadership by helping other saxophone people that are in my band.



On Monday I helped Miss Ward I showed leadership by volunteering my lunch to help in the library.



On Tuesday I showed leadership by being a role model on the year 7 leadership day when others were being silly.

Today I did peer mediation we only had one problem which was only a little kid itching a itchy bite when she was eating her lunch which was easy to fix.

On Thursday me and Lauren went down to room 10 and 11 and reminded them about wet lunch. I think I showed leadership by being patient with the teacher if it wasn't there normal teacher.  

Homework Challenge E2 - Interview someone who is in a job that interests you

I decided to complete homework challenge E2 which is to interview someone who is in a job that interests you.  I decided to interview Paula as she is a Preschool Teacher and I enjoyed my work experience so much I thought this would be interesting to find out more about being a Preschool Teacher.

First I designed a questionnaire and then interviewed Paula.

1. What is your name? - Paula Wilson 
2. What is your job? - Preschool Teacher
3. How long have you been in your job? - Over 10 years
4. What made you interested in your job? - I started baby sitting while at High School and I enjoyed working with  young kids.
5. Did you always want to be a Preschool Teacher? - No I first thought I wanted to be a nurse but very glad I choose the path of a Preschool Teacher.
6. What qualifications do you need for your job? - Diploma of Teaching Early Childhood Education and I also got my Teacher Registration. Teacher Registration is optional but beneficial and also means a higher pay.
7. How long was your training? - 3 years, mainly practical placements in the third year.
8. Where did you go for your training? - NZ College of Early Childhood Education.
9. What is the best thing about your job? - Working with children and it is lots of fun watching them grow and develop.
10. What are the things you don't like about your job? - Paperwork and staff meetings.
11. What was one of your best moments at your work and why? - Having grateful parents that appreciate the job you do.
12. What is the hardest thing about your job? - Talking to the parents when a child has behavior issues / problems.
13. If I was interested in doing your job for my career what would your advice be to me?

• Make sure you get your qualifications including teacher registration
• Be prepared to dance and sing with the children
• Be a good role model and get involved with activities with the children.

Leadership

Today I had peer mediation and got assigned to a different area of the school than I had been doing.  I showed leadership by keeping focused on my job despite lots of little kids jumping all over me.  I had fun today and it's good to give back to the little kids.

• On Monday I had librarian and I was the only one there so it was very busy and I think I showed leadership by doing both jobs at once.

• Wednesday I had peer mediation I showed leadership by sorting out a problem between two groups of young girls and did it with respect.

Jubilee writing

Oaklands school had their 50th Jubilee on labour weekend this year. I am in ar 7. In 50 years time when they have their 100th Jubilee I will be 61. In 50 years I think these changes would have happened at oaklands school... BYOD stands for Bring-Your-Own-Device- I think most kids will have their own device and bring it to school every day.also, I think it will be all open plan in the class rooms so heaps of kids the same year in one class room and have like 4 teachers in the same class room. plus I think the C.A.R.E values would have changed { Community-Active thinking-Respect-Excellence } to some thing else, but I still think they will use C.A.R.E as the starting letters. I am not looking forward to turning 61 but I am looking forward to coming back to this school.

My next step is to: be a bit more creative.

My term 4 goals

My academic goal is: to get my steps done each week because I need to work on my spelling and get the basic words learnt. Also I am going to get all my homework done and more because I need to get it done and I normally only do the minimum.

My social/behaviour goal is: to be nice to everyone even if I don't like them because I want everyone to be happy and have fun like I would like to feel.

My respect goal is: to respect everyone's opinion even if its different to mine because everyone is different and has a different opinion.

first day

Today is first day of term I am going to show leadership by being on task.

PASS THE PIGS

It was a warm summer's day on a little farm in the middle of nowhere.

"COME INSIDE "

The noise came from inside the little house on the farm.It was mummy pig but most animals called her Miss Daisy.She was yelling to her piglets Bill and his younger brother Pork chop to come inside.

"I made your favourite breakfast pancakes!".

"Nah i'd rather just play outside".

Miss Daisy sighed.

"I wish Billy and Pork Chop would come inside more often i miss seeing them".

Just as Miss Daisy had finished talking, Frank walked in. frank was Pork Chops best friend because he was a skunk and he stunk!. But Pork Chop didn't mind and that is why Frank and Pork Chop were best friends.

Frank said to miss Daisy "there is this new game out called pass the pigs I think they would  love that, i am sure you can play that with them".

"You know frank that is the smartest thing you have ever said I think I might just do that".


The next morning Miss Daisy got dressed in her best clothes and went down to the toy mall.


When she got to the toy mall she went and got the game pass the pigs.

When she got home Billy, Frank, and Pork Chop were on the couch.

"They asked what do you have for us".

Miss Daisy replied after a moment of silence.

"It's the, wait how do you know."

"Frank told us you had something for us but he won't tell us what so can you pretty please tell us".

"Fine but it was going to be a surprise FRANK! Its a game called pass the pigs it's the coolest game out. I think you will love it."

A short while after Miss Daisy, Frank, Billy ,and Pork chop were playing pass the Pass The Pigs, everyone liked  the game but Billy he loved it. For days even weeks after he was still playing Pass The Pigs.

That night on the phone it was the school they said Billy's grades had slipped and they think it is because the game pass the pigs.

That night Miss Daisy talked to Billy. That night no one new what she said to, but ever since he does 1 hour of home work, 1 game of Pass The Pigs and he spends the rest out side with Frank, And Pork Chop and Miss Daisy doesn't want it any other way.

Every week I have done peer mediation I have shown leadership by being on time and doing my job with respect.
Also I have signed up to pals tomorrow is my first day I am with Olivia, we will have lots of fun.

I have been going to band I have learnt lots of new songs like "Give me a Reason" and more I have shown leadership by being respectful to everyone in my band.

I also did librarian where I showed leadership by helping all kids that need help with reading, finding books and getting books out but I do it with a positive attitude.

The school choir that I am a member of had a performance and I think I did well and show respect because I didn't talk during the songs.

SCHOOL IS TO LONG AND IT'S NOT FAIR ON KIDS

People say family is the most important thing in the world. Well then why do we spend more time at school with people that we may not know, like or that aren't even related to use at all.

I know how we can solve this! You see if you finish school at  2:00 pm then we have 1:00 more hour to do homework then we have time for our family.But if we don't this is what most people do after school is, get home, eat afternoon tea, do our homework, watch our favourite TV shows and then go to  to bed. So no time for family.

Also fitness is dropping all over the world and kids are getting over weight. I think this is because school is so long, by the end of the day kids are too tired for some fitness. Plus eat around 2:00 pm lots of kids are itching to go outside so they don't focus on there learning.

So that means no one wins because teachers have to teach us it again and us kids have basically just sat around doing nothing. Also by 3:00 pm kids have sat around so much that they are too last to go outside any more.

This is how I think school should go: In the first block 1 topic and fitness, in the second block 1 new topic and in the last block fitness to 2:00 pm then go home to do homework and play with our family.

 If you didn't know the reason you only have 2 topics a day is because, if you have like 20 different  things you won't remember any thing but if you learn 2-3 topics you can remember more.

Overall, I think a school day should be  shorter  because kids are getting over weight and hardly ever see their family and school is one of the problems.

The solo level I have reached for surface features is Multistructural because I didn't really know what they did.

The solo level I have reached is relational because I haven't proven a lot of facts.      

My next step is: to have more facts and prove where I found the facts.

Maths

W.AL.T:Devise a strategy to solve a whole number problem.

Eg:

Joan's needs to earn $180. He has $60 in the bank and he has a paper delivery job earning $10 per hour. For how many hours does he need to deliver papers before he raises the money he needs?

Answer: 60+10n=180

N= hours 

N=6

How did I work it out:

So 60 + 10 = 70 but if you x 10 by something and then plus the 60 it = 180

All you have to do is make the word problem in to a number problem.

And that makes it easy to find the answer. 

My next step is to be a lot faster and more confident to do and say my answer.

I think I have been showing leadership by, been a roll model to others in the playground and in the class. To do this I have been showing the C.A.R.E values to others in class and in the playground.

Also on Monday I had librarian I showed leadership by, when a little kid asked about something I replied nicely. Also to help out I put away a lot if books.

last week I filled in for someone for peer mediation because they couldn't make it. I showed leadership by filling in instead of making an excuse say I  couldn't when I can.

My next step is to: write on my blog more often.

Today I had librarian duty and  I showed leadership by helping the little kids find books that they were looking for. I also help Virginia on desk because it was her first time. I enjoyed my time today being a librarian as it is fun and I enjoy working with younger kids and helping them.

I think I showed leadership by showing up on time for peer mediation. I also had music lesions this morning which I showed leadership by being on time and focusing. I think I am doing well because I try really hard to remember to be on time and what day my activities are. My next step is to practice more so I am perfect at playing the saxophone.

My learning

I think I am doing well because for my comprehension I use my goal. Also I think I am doing well because I got it right in my test so that is why I think I am doing well.

This is how you do it:

All you have to know is how many of each are in each of the.

10 mm in a 1 cm

100 cm in a 1 m

1000 m in a 1 km

If you go down you move decimal point back the amount of zeroes. If you go up you move decimal point forward the amount of zeroes if the is a gap u add one zero for each gap.

My next step is to: do it in 3 seconds so on the spot.

 

 

My explanation

Ergobaby is just one company that has been effected by someone braking the consumers guarantees act. The consumers guarantees at is a set of rules. So consumers and retailers don't get ripped of when they make a purchase. I will explain one time when someone has broken the consumers guarantees act and the effects it has on the business and the consumer.

There is a company that sells fake Ergobaby carries. That aren't that that good compared to the real Ergobaby. I can prove it one of the rules in the consumers guarantees act is that goods must be of an acceptable quality. But the fake Ergobaby is not  of an acceptable quality because when the buckle has a bit of weight on it, it opens the effects could be the baby could fall out get hurt or even die.

Here is a anther example of them braking them braking the consumers guarantees act. the rule that they broke was that it wasn't fit for purpose because it didn't do what it was meant to do. It didn't fit the purpose because it was meant to carry the baby safely but it didn't. An effect for the  business  that sell the real Ergobaby, they won't have as much customers because the false Ergobaby has made customers lose their trust. so they won't buy them any more.

One of the rules of the consumers guarantees act is that retailers can't lie to consumers and that is basically the opposite of what the fake Ergobaby company did, they  lied and said they are the real Ergobaby, also they said it would carry your baby and it doesn 't there for they lied to everyone. So  the consequence for the real Ergobaby is that it will have a bad name and it is all because some people are not following the consumers guarantees act.

Here is another example of the fake Ergobaby braking the consumers guarantees act. The rule they broke was goods must be safe to use, but the baby carrier was not safe to use because the buckle could not hold the baby witch is not safe. So it is very and it is not a good look for the real Ergobaby. Plus the baby could get badly injured.

The fake Ergobaby has basically broken all of the consumers guarantees act rules. Witch is not very funny for thr real Ergobaby and for the mum and the dad of the baby that went into the carrier and fell out.

Last week has been so busy I haven't had time to post anything during the week so I am going to do it all now.

On Monday it was a teacher only day so I couldn't do librarian or peer mediation but on Tuesday I had technology which was lot of fun.

Then on Wednesday Becca and I helped Miss Wood with obtaining feedback from the kids in Room 8 and 16 about garden to table, once we got the feedback we typed them up on to a computer. Next we choose a font and a colour that suited the Garden to Table display.  In the afternoon Becca and I made some dips with Miss Wood for the Garden to Table display for the School’s open day….a very big day but lots of fun.

On Thursday Becca and I helped Miss Wood with getting the Garden to Table display ready in the hall for the Open Day.  Later on in the day I had choir practice because we were performing at the open night for the year 5 and 6 families.

For the open night I got to school at 5:30 PM to help get the fillings for the fresh spring rolls because Becca and I were helping Miss Wood for the Garden to Table display for the open night. What we did was if someone wanted one of the rolls we prepared one paper rice sheet when it was hot enough we took it out and lay it on a tray. It was now ready for the filling, we put a bit of filling on the paper rice sheet then we would get them to roll it themselves.  Also part way through the night I had the choir performance which I enjoyed preforming that night. On Friday Becca, Iona and I made lots of fresh spring rolls for room 8 and for the staff to eat.  They were really yummy and lots of fun to make.  Also I had choir practice today. 

So that was my busy week finished ..next week I have my student lead conference so this week is looking like another busy week again.

peer mediator 9.6.14

Today i was a peer mediator on the second half of lunch me, Sophie and Natasha had no problems so wasn't as much fun.But it was still fun looking at all of the other students play.

When I opened the door I saw a little cheats. I walked over and opened it had $100000000000000000000000000000000000000000500000000000000000006200000000 

I was,over the moon.

My next step is to add more to my short story's 

The Magnificent bird

W.A.L.T: be specific on one idear .

Finally, I arrived at the parrot place. But to get there it was a half hour drive it was so boring by the time I got there I was starting to get sick of my own breath.

When I got out I started to think I was in the middle of know where. I thought it was a wast of my holiday when I could be eating Easter eggs in the motel. Then I saw a little building I walked in it looked like a pet shop with out ant pets. My dad went up and payed the lady opened the gate.

Mum said we were going, but she didn't say when so I had been waiting for this moment all holidays.

I walked in, it looked like an Avery with birds flying everywhere with some birds in cages but not many. The time went flying by. At this point there was heaps of people.

soon the bird lady came in. She asked if any one wanted to hold a parrot, i put my hand up, the next minute she came back with a lovely small parrot, ti was one of the small parrots. so it didn't bite or claw it was a beautiful parrot; soon the bird had fallen asleep on my arm, I loved that bird so much it was the cutest parrot I had ever seen. But as time moved on I had to move on, I put the parrot back on the rope and moved on. 

I walked down to all of the parrots that were in all cake is really fatning the cages. My favourite parrot was called a rainbow parrot it was an amazing parrot. It looked like it had just flown through a rainbow. I looked at that parrot for ages, but I soon had to move on, I walked down to where I held the blue parrot.

When I got down there the bird lady asked me to put my hand out . So I did but I did it very shakey 

I was so scared when she said that because I didn't know what she was going to do to me? 

I soon realised that she was getting a big parrot for me to hold. The nerves had just kicked in as soon as I thought of it. But as soon as I started to think about it, the lady put the parrot on my arm it didn't hurt to much. Then I finally got the lady to take it of my arm.  

Soon I had to leave I was sad to go. I wanted to keep that blue parrot it was so sad, but at the same time I was happy to go to the beach.

My next step is to finish a bit faster.

Last term I think I achieved all of my goals. Because I have learnt how to + fractions, I have been sitting next to different people at roll time and I am trying to be a better librarian 

My social next step goal is to sit next to different people at any time. 

My academic next step goal is to complete my mathletics every week. 

My leadership next step goal is to be a even better librarian.

Making choices

Decisions - we all have to make them but some times they aren't to easy. Some of the influences are friends,family,media,and the law. These influences help make our decisions.  

One of the influences on our decisions can be our friends. Most of the time we want to be like our friends so it influences our decisions. That is also called peer pressure. Peer pressure is when your friends pressure you into something it can be good or bad influence. On top of this influence there is your family. 

Your family is a big influence in your life. When you what to go something they might say no because they have to work. But  most of the time they just want to protect you. Some of the they are the most annoying people in the world. But they are always there for you even if you do something wrong like brake the law. 

The law is also a big influence. Some of the time the law makes the choice for you. For example, when you want to go to the mall your mum and dad might be busy. The law has all ready made your decision  because you can't drive because you are under age. So that is how the law is a big influence on your life. But you will still want to go because of the media. 

The media can be a massive influence. Because it makes every thing look awesome even when it isn't. Media is a success because it convinces everyone that what ever they say is the best so you will want to buy it. That is why I think that media is a big influence in everyone's life. 

All of these influence I think have had at least one influence in your life. That is why you should think of all of these influence next time you make a desison even if it as small as chosing an  ice-cream flavour or as big as chosing what City to move to. I think you should think of all of all of these influence next time you make a desison. But remember the choice is up to you.
